Designing XO’s Autism Awareness Campaign
Client: XO MultiSport Club
In April 2025, XO Multisport Club launched its Autism Acceptance Month campaign with the message Inclusion is a Team Sport. We partnered with the team to lead the creative strategy, content development, and visual execution—crafting a campaign that blended education, empathy, and action.
The aim was clear: increase awareness and foster understanding within the MutiSport community by addressing the unique needs of autistic athletes. From coaches and teammates to parents and peers, every post was designed to inform and inspire inclusivity at every level.
Our Role
We developed the complete creative framework and executed a full content rollout across four weeks. This included:
- Social copy and messaging
- Original flat vector illustrations
- Custom carousels and reels
- Accessibility-forward visual layouts
- A structured theme calendar aligned to XO’s values and the realities of competitive sport
Our process balances collaboration, empathy, and visual clarity—tailored to both the audience and the message. We also worked closely with campaign sponsor Look Opticians to ensure seamless brand integration while keeping athlete stories at the centre.
Design Approach
Every piece of content was guided by two principles: clarity and respect. That meant avoiding stereotypical imagery like puzzle pieces, using the rainbow infinity symbol instead, and prioritising legible, calm design.
We developed original illustrations to support posts geared toward parents and child athletes, and made accessibility a priority—using readable fonts, bold headlines, and captioned videos. Tone was carefully balanced: informative without being clinical, uplifting without being patronising.
A standout example: the “Words Matter” carousel, which reframed everyday language into inclusive alternatives using a minimalist flat design. Other visuals included clean infographics and calm colour schemes to support emotional and cognitive clarity.

Featured Highlights
- Strength in Structure: A carousel that explained the importance of routines, predictability, and clear communication in training environments. It closed with: “Every athlete deserves a plan that fits.”
- Coaching with Care: A direct message from XO’s Head Coach, encouraging coaches to lead with empathy, patience, and adaptability when working with autistic athletes.
- Supporting Your Child Athlete with Autism: A guide built from a parent’s lived experience—emphasising listening, predictability, and celebrating small wins.
- Teammate Support Reel: A skit-style reel illustrating simple ways teammates can be more inclusive, from respecting sensory boundaries to offering encouragement.
- Aliya’s Story: A launch reel featuring triathlete Aliya, setting the campaign’s tone with authenticity and heart.
Across XO’s channels, the campaign received overwhelmingly positive feedback from athletes, parents, and supporters—proving that clarity and care resonate beyond the screen.
Why This Matters
This project went beyond branded awareness—it was an opportunity to design for empathy, accessibility, and impact. Working hand-in-hand with XO and Look Opticians, we crafted a story that reflected the real experiences of athletes and their communities.
For sports clubs, federations, or advocacy groups looking to build inclusive campaigns, this is proof that thoughtful creative direction can bring visibility and value to important causes.
